This Vietnamese restaurant boasts a menu with classics like banh mi and pho, but also serves creative dishes like tomato rice with crispy Maryland chicken. With chillier weather encroaching, it’s a perfect time to snag a booth and slurp down a big bowl of pho. Topped generously with Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and a squeeze of lime, this flavorful rice noodle soup is the perfect way to warm up on a crisp November day. Though traditionally made with beef broth, Mi La Cay also offers a vegetable-based broth. And don’t skip out on the Thai iced tea—  a bright orange beverage made of spiced black tea, sugar, and sweetened condensed milk. Don’t be mistaken, while Mi La Cay isn’t a show off, it’s not a hole-in-the-wall either— it makes regular appearances in the Washington Post, receiving accolades for both its affordability and excellence.
