Moving to Woodside Park

Woodside Park is one of Silver Spring’s most popular and charming neighborhoods, dating back to the early 20th century. As Silver Spring’s first automobile-based suburb, it is also unique in that it has maintained its 1920s suburban ideal throughout the years. As the prototype for other neighborhoods in Montgomery County, Woodside Park is what many other subdivisions aspired to but could not recreate. Though established nearly a century ago, today its emphasis remains on maintaining the same ambience, quality, and ideal as with its inception.

Woodside Park is not only a historical treasure but also a beauty to behold. Woodside Park has a sylvan, park-like character and mature, densely-wooded areas. The charming homes sit atop larger-than-average lots with sweeping lawns. Woodside Park, with around 700 single family homes in the legal subdivision, boasts some of the largest lots you will find in the 20910 zip code (close-in Silver Spring). Accessible to Downtown Silver Spring and the Silver Spring Metro Station, Woodside Park can be both an oasis and a launchpad for a host of different activities in the area. Located inside the Beltway and just over the Washington, DC line in Maryland, residents can enjoy living within close proximity of metropolitan centers and natural wonders alike.

Not only is Woodside Park one of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in Silver Spring, it also has a close community feel. The Woodside Park Civic Association, which is comprised of an active group of passionate residents, takes pride in advocating for Woodside Park’s interests in urban planning and other political issues. They create family-oriented social events for neighbors to meet and provide a forum for neighbors to communicate with one another. What’s more, how many neighborhoods have their own history book? Woodside Park resident Bob Oshel has written a book called Home sites of distinction: The history of Woodside Park, Silver Spring, Maryland.

One of the main advantages of living in Woodside Park is access to an excellent school system. Montgomery County schools are consistently ranked as some of the best in the nation, and living in this charming community lends access to this excellent school system. Children of Woodside Park attend Woodlin Elementary School, Sligo Middle School, and Albert Einstein High School. Another added advantage is access to the DCC (Downcounty Consortium) which allows students to choose a high school (space-permitting) that aligns with their preferred academic area of study. These choices include Montgomery Blair, Albert Einstein, John F. Kennedy, Northwood, and Wheaton.

Silver Spring’s Woodside Park is not only a delightful relic of the past but also an exceptional neighborhood to live in for the future. The landscapes provide a bucolic reprieve in an otherwise bustling city. Residents are to thank for maintaining the rich history and neighborly atmosphere in the very sweet Woodside Park. Located close to Downtown Silver Spring and Washington, DC, Woodside Park blends quaint aesthetic sensibilities with life in the modern era. With some of the best schools in the country and even better neighbors, Woodside Park is a hidden gem.
