WELCOME TO TAKOMA PARK
WELCOME TO TAKOMA PARK
Takoma Park, also know as Azalea City, is a hip area known for its international cafes, arts, activism and eco-friendly community. Takoma Park was founded as one of the first railway-accessible suburbs. At a higher elevation than DC, it was high enough to escape the mosquitos and malaria that once plagued DC. It was incorporated in 1890 and soon became the largest city in Montgomery County.
The Takoma Park Historic District is the largest in the county. And, it’s a nuclear free zone — no nukes allowed here, thank you.
Takoma Park is home to more than 2,500 businesses, and an exceptional number of them are locally-owned establishments serving the community. Takoma Park offers a weekly Farmer's Market in the lovely historic business district of Takoma Park where you'll find the freshest local, seasonal produce, bread, pasture-raised meats, and more.
Takoma Park offers a calendar filled with events from Jazz Fest and Folk Fest to the Main Street Festival, Art Hop and Cocoa Crawl, Pajamarama and the Takoma Tap Takeover. Always looking to do good in the world, Takoma Park still knows how to find fun.
